PHILIPPE DE SOUSA QUARTET

The Portuguese guitar, a powerful symbol of Fado and Portuguese music, is gradually emerging from its traditional path to reach out to other instruments and other influences. Today, Philippe de Sousa offers a repertoire of original compositions, a subtle dialogue between guitar, double bass and percussions, from Portuguese music and those elsewhere.

DUO, PORTUGUESE GUITAR, CLASSICAL GUITAR

With Quitó de Sousa, portuguese classical guitarist, Philippe de Sousa plays this repertory what is made of original themes and traditional pieces. Quito knows the portuguese music since childhood, he can play it with the agility and classical technique. What gives them the comfort to be able to arrange the themes and compositions for two guitars to create a dialogue instruments. This duo offers a repertoire of original compositions intertwined with fado, tango, jazz or others.

FADO INSTRUMENTAL

Repertoire of Fado instrumental browsing the different styles of Fados through the ages and different guitar players and composers. Casimiro Silva plays "viola de fado" (classical guitar), this duo interprets the themes of the Masters of the Portuguese guitar like Armandinho, Jaime Santos, José Nunes, Fontes Rocha or Carlos Paredes.

PORTUGUESE GUITAR SOLO

Philippe de Sousa also has a directory for the portuguese guitar alone. Personal themes but also pieces of the great masters of the Portuguese guitar like Carlos Paredes and Pedro Caldeira Cabral. Having been invited to several guitar festivals. Philippe de Sousa likes to play solo to show another aspect of the portuguese guitar unknown to the general public.

- TANGO-FADO

Fado and Tango show. Two very similar urban musics that has undergone changes parallel to the same periods. Lisbon and Buenos Aires, here represented by four musicians (Fernando Maguna, Diego Trosman, Philippe de Sousa, Romain Lecuyer), a Fado singer (Maria de Lurdes) and a pair of Tango dancers (Erna & Santiago Giachello).

- VIRA TEMPO

In search of the roots of Brazilian Choro and Portuguese Fado, would they have the same origins, the same parents? A Portuguese singer in Rotterdam (Magda Mendes), a Brazilian guitarist in Bruxels (Daniel Miranda) and a Portuguese guitarist in Paris, join to form this magnificent project.
